Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga on Sunday with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Stuttgart. Star striker Harry Kane netted twice to bring his league tally this season to 20 goals, as the hosts bounced back from last weekend’s heavy defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The opener came after just two minutes when Leroy Sane squared for Kane to slot home. Kim Min-jae thought he had doubled Bayern’s lead midway through the first half, but his header was ruled out for offside by VAR. Thomas Muller also had a goal chalked off, before Kane finally got his second in the 55th minute, nodding in at the back post from a Kim flick-on. The South Korean centre-back wrapped up the scoring himself eight minutes later, diverting a corner into the net via a defender.
Stuttgart offered occasional threat on the counterattack, with loanee keeper Alexander Nubel making some smart stops. Still, Bayern were dominant overall, and now sit only four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen after getting over last week’s thrashing.
The win leaves Thomas Tuchel’s side second in the table as they seek to retain the title they won last season. Next up is a midweek clash away to Wolfsburg while Stuttgart welcome Augsburg to the MHP Arena on Wednesday.
