Juventus secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Roma on Saturday, narrowing the gap to Serie A leaders Inter Milan to just two points.
In a tense match at the Allianz Stadium, midfielder Adrien Rabiot’s opportunistic second-half strike proved to be the decisive moment. The first half witnessed chances for both teams, with Bryan Cristante’s early strike for Roma hitting the post after deflecting off Dusan Vlahovic.
As the half progressed, Juventus settled into the game, with Vlahovic and teenage prospect Kenan Yildiz creating opportunities. However, the teams entered halftime level after an Evan Ndicka goal-line clearance thwarted Filip Kostic’s attempt to give the hosts a lead.
The breakthrough came shortly after the restart when Rabiot capitalized on a clever Vlahovic backheel flick. The Frenchman scored with a left-footed strike, securing the crucial goal that propelled Juventus to 43 points.
Despite a late rally from Roma, they struggled to break down Juventus’ solid defense. Substitute Sardar Azmoun had the best chances, heading straight at Wojciech Szczesny, and Bryan Cristante’s deflected effort was skillfully dealt with. The result leaves Roma in 7th position with 28 points as the season reaches its halfway point.
