Justice Dongban-Mensem acceptance of Wike’s appointment as BOT chair of IBB Golf Club is judicial misconduct, says Odinkalu
Professor of the Practice of International Human Rights Law at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Chidi Odinkalu has faulted the Court of Appeal President, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem in accepting an appointment from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to be the Chairman Board of Trustees for IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja
According to Odinkalu, the action was akin to judicial misconduct.
Posting on his X handle, he said: “In 2011, under @GEJonathan, the IBB Golf Club in Abuja became a private club. With cases pending in court, @GovWike wades in & designates the President of @CourtOfAppealNG onto the BOT of the Golf Club. That is Judicial misconduct of the rankest species.”
Wike appointed Dongban-Mensem as the Chairman Board of Trustees for IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja on Friday April 4.
Dongban-Mensem will now replace General I.B.M. Haruna as the Chairman Board of Trustees.
Other new members of the BOT were Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, Mrs Grace Ihonvbere, S.l. Ameh (SAN), Hamid Abbo, Admiral Victor Adedipe, (rtd), Chief Patrick Chidolue and Mr Ikokwu.
