June 12 protest: ‘Come out with your empty pots, pans,’ #EndBadGovernance Movement tells Nigerians

A civil society organisation, the #EndBadGovernance Movement, has urged Nigerians to come out with their empty pans, pots, and spoons on June 12 to show President Bola Tinubu that there is indeed hunger in the land.

Tinubu had on May 29 scored him self high, saying his policies are working.

In reaction to the claim, the group urged Nigerians to bring their empty pots and pans for the June 12 protest.

The take-off point for the Lagos leg of the protest is scheduled for June 12 at the Ikeja Under Bridge, at 7 am.

A flyer for the protest reads: “On May 29, 2025, Tinubu said his government has performed well in the last two years. But the truth is that these are the worst two years for Nigerian workers, youth, students, artisans, farmers, market women and the masses.

“Bring your empty pans, pots and spoons to the June 12 protest to show Tinubu that Nigerians are hungry.”

Recall that the #EndBadGovernance group held a press conference on May 29 to commemorate the two years of Tinubu’s government, which they said has been marked by hunger, hardship, and pain. They demanded the reversal of petrol subsidy removal, electricity tariff hike and other neoliberal policies of the government, which are responsible for the hardship.

The group then declared June 12 as a day of mass protest against the ‘unpopular neoliberal policies of the president.’
