The immediate past Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Jibrin Barau, APC, Kano North, has emerged as the Deputy Senate President unopposed, for the 10th National Assembly. His emergence followed the nomination by the former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi and seconded by Salisu Mustapha.
From the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas has taken office as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Abbas from Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, got a total of 353 votes from majority members of the House, on Tuesday June 13. He defeated Aminu Sani Jaji and Ahmed Idris Wase who had 3 votes each.
Until his emergence as the Speaker, Abbas was the House Committee Chairman for Land Transport.
