January 15 2021, day rampaging cult groups engaged in deadly clash in Akure, Ondo residents recall

 

It was a mixed reactions today in Akure, the Ondo State capital as some youths celebrated their escape from the hands of suspected deadly cultists on January 15, 2021 while others who lost their beloved ones mourned the unfortunate incident.

The memory brought about the urgly situation where some prosperous young people were hacked down by a suspected members of a cult group in a revengeful mission

January 15, 2021, could not go unnoticed along FUTA Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital, when some suspected Cultists unleashed their deadly attacks against their perceive enemies.

Similarly, last week in Owo community, the same occurrence surface its ugly head where suspected cultists unleashed their deadly attack against others.

About five people lost their lives during the fracas. This includes a former youth leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo, Fisayo Oladipupo, who was shot dead in the early hours of Monday by suspected cultists.

In retaliation, suspected cultists loyal to the slain APC chieftain allegedly shot four persons, including two people who were affected by stray bullets.

However in FUTA incident on January 15 2021, many innocent lives were cut short in the deadly attact which include Omooba Ademola, Wole Adebisu, Ojo Wonder, Ogunenika Abiodun and a farmer among others while several others sustained several degrees of injuries

Eyewitnesses reported that Ogunenika Abiodun and a farmer ran into the incident on their way from work while Ojo Wonder, a shoemaker, was hit by a stray bullet

The survivors could not hide their joy as they celebrated their escape from the hands of the cultists.

However, as those who escaped death by the whisker during the incident were celebrating with their families and friends to thank God for sparing their lives, others mourned the death of their loved ones.

The deceased family members of Omooba Ademola, Wole Adebisu, Ojo Wonder, and Ogunenika Abiodun were left in deep mourning

Also, the residents in the area were still in shock and dismayed. They said the incident was very unfortunate and uncalled for. “Up till now, we are still expecting to see those who got missing during the incident.

An eyewitness who passed anonymity, said Ogunenika Abiodun and the Farmer were on their way home after a working hours when they met their untimely death in hands of cult group while others were hit with planks till they died.

“Since then, we all have been vigilant about our movements and interactions to avoid falling victim to such incidents again. Some of the youths in the area were also missing since then,” he stated.
