‘It’s a disgrace,’ netizens react to ex-President Jonathan’s visit to Ganjude

Former President Goodluck Jonathan visited chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje at his Abuja residence on Friday amid anger from some Nigerians who felt it was disgraceful.

It is not clear why Jonathan visited the ruling party national chairman. But for many who objected to such visit, they said Ganduje should have been the one visiting a former head of state and not the other way round.

On X, netizens have expressed their disapproval of Jonathan visiting Ganduje at his home.

@emmaikumeh said: “It’s so shameful, a whole ex-President? Visiting a chairman of a party.”

@rilwan_ola01 said: “Ex-president visiting ordinary opposition party chairman is the lowest of the low. People should be visiting you not the other way round oga jona .”

@geenitee said: “For all the former Presidents na this one visit people pass, but people no dey visit am.”

@A_A_AdebiyiEsq said: “Highly unpresidential visit.”

But @Bolakalebaraje1 rose to the defence of Jonathan. He said: “I don’t know what brought this condemnation against the visiting of the former president Jonathan. Some people quickly forget the history. During his own tenure as president, many party elders work against his victory at the poll and he accepted the defeat.”

@seyialli said: “This is politics and influence.I respect @GEJonathan.”
