Nigerian singer and actress, Nwakaego Iheanacho Ogbaro, popularly known as Ego, has opened up about her departure from Bisade Ologunde’s, aka Lagbaja’s Africano band in 2007, shedding light on the reasons behind the decision.
Ego, who served as a backup singer for the renowned Nigerian afrobeat musician Lagbaja, contributing to hits like ‘Konko Below,’ ‘Nothing for You,’ and ‘Never Far Away,’ clarified her departure on her X platform. She explained that leaving the Africano band was a natural progression for her, emphasizing that there was no discord between her and Lagbaja.
Taking to Twitter, Ego addressed the narrative surrounding her exit from Lagbaja’s band: “We need to stop this “When Ego left Lagbaja, everything “dabarued” (lol) narrative…We are both doing very well in our separate endeavors. End of story. Gracias!”
When asked about the possibility of a future collaboration with Lagbaja, Ego mentioned that it is not out of the realm of possibility. She stated, “No it’s not. There is nothing to resolve. Just a case of when it’s time to move, you meeuuve. Working together again is not an impossibility.”
