Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has indicated that the club might explore the January transfer window to address their current injury woes. The Gunners are grappling with an injury crisis, with key players like Thomas Partey, Jurrien Timber, Fabio Vieira, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kai Havertz all sidelined.
Arteta acknowledged the squad’s current shortage, emphasizing their exposure in specific positions over the past six weeks. While optimistic about the imminent return of injured players, the exact timelines remain uncertain.
Despite Arsenal’s significant investment of over £200 million in the summer transfer window, including the record-breaking signing of Declan Rice for £105 million, the team is considering additional reinforcements. Havertz and Timber also joined in high-profile deals as the club sought to build on last season’s strong performance, where they led the Premier League table for 248 days before finishing second.
With the demanding festive fixture schedule testing squads across the league, Arteta admitted that Arsenal has identified potential transfer targets in case further reinforcements are deemed necessary. He stated, “We have certain targets and ideas if things happen.”
Arteta emphasized that Arsenal will always be open to signings that can improve the squad, especially if injuries expose gaps that cannot be internally addressed before the January window closes.
