INEC distributes sensitive materials for Saturday’s elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Lagos State has begun the movement of sensitive materials to be used for the conduct of Saturday Governorship and State Assembly elections from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Marina to the local government area offices across the state.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, party agents from various political parties and other security agents are present at the handling of the sensitive materials to Electoral Officers for onward distribution to various INEC Local Government Offices.
Speaking to newsmen, Mr Olusegun Agbaje said the INEC was ready for the conduct free, fair and credible elections on Saturday
Mr Agbaje who explained further that the sensitive materials are secured and intact, noted that the distribution of sensitive materials to Wards areas will commence tomorrow to ensure that materials get to polling units in time.
In a remark, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Idowu Owohunwa, who was represented by ACP Sagir Ismail, assured Lagosians that there would be adequate security personnel on hand to monitor and provide security on election days, urging residents to go and exercise their franchise without fear.
Party agents, security operatives, election observers, and other critical stakeholders were on ground to witness the distribution of sensitive materials to Local Government Areas in the state.
