Donald Trump's interview with Tucker Carlson

In less than 48 hours, Donald Trump’s interview with Tucker Carlson, gets more than 252 million views on X

An estimated 252 million views and counting, is what the interview Donald Trump had with Tucker Carlson has amassed on X, formerly known as Twitter in less than 48 hours.

Carlson, a former anchor on Fox News, was fired over unclear political concerns that appeared to affect the network at the time. The frontline political commentator then launched his own show on X, after owner of the microblogging App, Elon Musk, assured him of non-interference.

Donald Trump, who bypassed a debate with Republican candidates on August 23, decided he would have a sit-down interview with Carlson, about the same time the debate was airing.

The interview, which covers topics such as his fourth indictment in the state of Georgia, his growing popularity among Republican voters, the Russia-Ukraine war, among others, has become the biggest political subject with the most views on X.

After the interview, Trump showed up at Georgia for his arrest where his mugshot was taken on August 24.

The former U.S. President shared the mugshot on X, formerly Twitter, the first time he would be using the App, two and half years after he was suspended on the microblogging App, and later reinstated by new owner, Elon Musk.

In the indictment, Trump was accused of withholding government documents, preventing federal officials from retrieving those documents and election interference.

Two of those indictments are on state charges in New York and Georgia, and two indictments are on federal charges. These indictments amount to a total of 91 felony counts.

Some analysts have said it is the weaponization of the U.S. justice department against a major political opponent.

Major polls have shown Trump is standing shoulder to shoulder with the U.S. President Joe Biden, his Democratic challenger in the 2024 election. Trump is favoured to clinch the Republican Party nomination.

Trump later posted a statement on his campaign website which reads. “Today, at the notoriously violent jail in Fulton County, Georgia, I was ARRESTED despite having committed NO CRIME. The American people know what’s going on.

“What has taken place is a travesty of justice and ELECTION INTERFERENCE.

“The Left wants to intimidate YOU out of voting for a political outsider who puts the American people FIRST.

“But today, I walked into the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA.

“If you are doing poorly due to the sinister people in control of our country right now, don’t even think about donating!

“But if you can, please make a contribution to evict Crooked Joe Biden from the White House and SAVE AMERICA during this dark chapter in our nation’s history.

“Thank you and God bless you,”
