Nigerian singer and songwriter Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, recently disclosed the two-year-long journey it took to secure a record deal with Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, the renowned rapper and CEO of YBNL Nation.
Reflecting on the pivotal moment when Olamide invited him to his residence and proposed joining the record label, Asake enthusiastically accepted the offer. Recounting the experience in an interview with Hip TV, he revealed that he had been persistently requesting Olamide’s attention since 2020.
Describing the significant encounter, Asake shared, “One day, I got to his house, then he asked me… This part burst my head. This is how he signed me. He said, ‘How are you, Asake?’ I said I’m fine. And he asked me, ‘Would you like to join YBNL?’”
Expressing his admiration for Olamide and the eagerness to be part of the YBNL family, Asake admitted that the question from someone he looked up to was overwhelming. When Olamide advised him to seek legal counsel and review the contract’s details, Asake, unable to contain his excitement, opted to sign immediately.
Asake officially joined YBNL Nation in February 2022, marking the occasion by releasing his debut extended play, “Ololade.” The EP featured standout tracks such as ‘Omo Ope,’ a collaboration with Olamide, and the solo single ‘Sungba,’ showcasing Asake’s musical prowess and the beginning of a promising journey with YBNL Nation.
