Gunmen on Friday carried out a sophisticated kidnapping in Lagos.
Using a speedboat, the armed men abducted the Managing Director of Fouani, a company that represents the business interest of LG and Hisense brands in Nigeria.
The gunmen also whisked away three Lebanese nationals who were cruising on boat with the MD in Lagos.
The four foreign nationals were forcefully kidnapped near the Falomo Bridge as the victims were en route from Apapa to Victoria Island.
The names of the victims have not yet been confirmed.
According to a Punch report quoting a source, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of $1.5 million.
“Yesterday evening, the Managing Director of Fouani Company (LG and Hisense) and three Lebanese were kidnapped around Falomo Bridge while travelling from Apapa to Victoria Island by boat. The kidnappers have asked for $1.5 million,” the source disclosed.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin has also confirmed the incident, as per Punch report.
He said: “Yes, it is true. We got the report and we are looking into it. Please, I’m not obliged to state more than that.”
When pressed for additional details, including the names of the abducted individuals and specifics of the abduction, Hundeyin responded, “I’m not obliged to state the names, when, where, and how it happened for now but we are looking into it.”
The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in Lagos, particularly regarding the safety of business executives and expatriates.
