The head Pastor of the second Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Damakasuwa, located in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Amako Maraya, has tragically lost his life at the hands of unidentified gunmen, who also abducted his wife.
The incident unfolded around 11 pm on Friday when the gunmen reportedly invaded the community. A source, identified as an elder within the Church, informed DAILY POST that the assailants targeted the Pastor, fatally shooting him and forcefully taking his wife to an undisclosed location.
Providing additional context, the source revealed that approximately three months prior, the same gunmen had attempted to abduct the clergyman’s son. However, the community successfully repelled the assailants, resulting in injuries to the Pastor’s son. The source disclosed that following the recent incident, the gunmen contacted the family on Saturday morning, demanding a ransom of N3 million. Regrettably, no further communication has been received from the assailants since then.
The community has been gripped by tension since the tragic event occurred. The source urgently appealed to both security agencies and the government to intervene and facilitate the safe rescue of the traumatized widow.
Efforts to reach the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, for comments on the matter proved unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered.
