Following a confrontation with the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, trailer drivers blocked the entrance path, causing traffic along the Mile 2 Oshodi Motorway according to reports by Vanguard Newspaper.
The incident, which began today at around 10:30am, caused traffic from Berger bus stop to Mile 2.
An eyewitness accounts detailed that a member of NURTW stopped a trailer driver to collect N500 from him. This was in addition to the routine daily collections they make from every trailer, as well as from cars and SUVs without licence plates, that travel that route. But trouble ensues after a driver refused to comply, insisting he has already collected receipt of payment from another member.
The NURTW member reportedly dragged the truck driver down from his truck and stabbed him with metallic object, carting away with his phone and money after the driver refused to settle him
As a result of the development, the driver with blood stains all over his body, used his vehicle to blocked one of the lane.
Another trailer of same colour also blocked the service lane, making it difficult for motorist and commuters to access the road.
