Galatasaray nearing club-record deal for Victor Osimhen

Galatasaray is reportedly close to finalizing a blockbuster transfer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with sources indicating a €75 million fee has been agreed upon. The deal would see Galatasaray pay €40 million upfront and the remaining €35 million within a year.

The agreement also includes €5 million in performance-based add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause on future profit. Notably, the deal contains a clause restricting Osimhen from moving to any Italian club for the next two years, a term reportedly requested by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who also pushed for a share of future resale profit.

Negotiations have moved quickly, and Galatasaray is now preparing the necessary bank guarantees for the initial payment.

The 26-year-old forward is reportedly keen on returning to Istanbul, where he enjoyed a standout loan spell with Galatasaray during the 2024/2025 season. During that time, he netted an impressive 37 goals in 41 matches, helping the club secure both the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup. His preference for Galatasaray comes despite offers from English Premier League and Saudi Pro League clubs, drawn by the promise of UEFA Champions League football and a lucrative salary estimated at €15 million net, plus an additional €10 million in endorsements.

While a verbal agreement is in place, club sources caution that final signatures are still pending. The two-year restriction on Italian transfers is part of the fine print, and the final details of the sell-on clause are expected to be resolved in the coming days. Both clubs are reportedly eager to finalize the deal to avoid any further tensions, following earlier disagreements this month that nearly led to FIFA intervention.

If completed, this transfer would be one of the most expensive in Turkish football history, highlighting Galatasaray’s ambition to build a highly competitive squad for continental competitions. Osimhen is expected to join the team for pre-season training ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign, with an official announcement anticipated once all documentation is finalized.
