FUT Minna Lecturer found dead in her home, throat slashed
A lecturer from the Department of Biochemistry at the School of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna in Niger State, Dr. (Mrs.) Adefolalu Funmilola Sherifat, has tragically been discovered murdered at her residence in the Gbaiko Area of the town.
The chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) at the university, Professor Gbolahan Bolarin, confirmed this distressing incident to Channels Television.
Professor Bolarin disclosed that the discovery of Dr. Adefolalu’s lifeless body took place on a Sunday morning when her fellow church members became concerned about her absence from the service.
Residents in the vicinity recounted that, upon forcibly entering her home, they found her lifeless body in a pool of blood with her throat brutally slashed, and knives were discovered nearby. Subsequently, the authorities intervened, and the police transferred the deceased to the mortuary.
Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger Police Command, informed Channels Television that additional information regarding the incident will be provided in due course.
According to some locals, the deceased university lecturer’s husband, who was also a professor at the same institution, had previously passed away. Furthermore, it was revealed that she had recently dismissed her female house help on the preceding Friday.
The community is left in shock and mourning as they grapple with the tragic loss of a respected academic figure.
