The much-anticipated heavyweight boxing clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for February 17, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both undefeated boxers will vie for the undisputed world heavyweight champion title, aiming to hold all major titles.
WBC champion Fury will face off against Usyk, who currently holds the WBA, IBF, and WBO belts. The bout, initially planned for December, was rescheduled due to Fury’s exhibition bout against Francis Ngannou. The two rivals met in Saudi Arabia after the exhibition, heightening the anticipation for their upcoming clash in February.
Usyk mentioned that the negotiations involved a small circle, leading to the signing of the contract after a prior meeting with Fury. He expressed no intention to use Fury’s Ngannou bout for trash talk ahead of their fight.
Fury’s last professional match was in December against Derek Chisora, while Usyk defended his titles against Daniel Dubois in a controversial stoppage win. The February date allows both fighters ample time to prepare for what promises to be a historic battle to determine the heavyweight division’s king.
Boxing enthusiasts eagerly await the showdown to witness who will emerge victorious when Fury and Usyk step into the ring. The winner will make history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis held all division belts in 1999.
