Ex-Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed claim that Siminalayi Fubara is a popular politician in Rivers State.
In a video making the rounds on X, Amaechi was heard telling some supporters in a room that save for his opposition to ex-Governor Nyesom Wike, Fubara isn’t popular on account of any achievements attached to his name.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State failed in 2015 to anoint his successor, Dakuku Peterside, in a hotly contested governorship election won by Wike.
Wike has since completed his two term and successfully installed Fubara as successor. But Fubara turned against his ex-godfather Wike following a dispute over control of the political structure of Rivers State.
In the video, Amaechi said: “I will not join Sim, I will not join Wike….No big man is big without the grassroots support.
“If you look at the Rivers political followership, we have more people singing our praise than singing even Sim. What Sim thinks is his popularity today is because he is anti Wike. That’s his popularity. Not that Sim is the best man that has happened to earth and all that. It is because he is anti-Wike. And it is because he says he is tired of Wike,” Amaechi said.

Now, I am just wondering why the supporters of Amaechi are refusing to post this video or is it that they don't trust or follow Amaechi again? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/W8isQMuwJz
