Former Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 4th Republic, Ghali umar Na’abba has passed away at the age of 65.
According to family sources, the ex-lawmaker gave up the ghost in the early hours of Wednesday after battling an undisclosed illness.
A member of the family went on to say the remains of Ghali Umar Na’Abba would be buried in Abuja today according to Islamic rites.
He was once flown abroad for medical treatment and stayed there for some months before he recovered and returned to Nigeria
Ghali Umar Na’abba, who hails from Kano State, was elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1999 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He became the Speaker a few months after the inauguration of the House following the resignation of the then Speaker, Salisu Buhari, from the same Kano State, over certificate forgery scandal.
He recently returned to the PDP after dumping the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC).
Na’abba attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he studied political science and graduated in 1979.
