Solomon Dalung, a former minister of sports and youth, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for eliminating the fuel subsidy and floating the naira.
In a recent interview, Dalung made this statement while reviewing the performance of the present administration.
“He [Tinubu] goofed full-time by playing into the hands of subsidy racketeers, by making the statement that subsidy was gone. And Nigerians have not recovered from that trauma,” Dalung told TrustTV.
He did, however, assert that if subsidies must be eliminated, Tinubu should reintroduce it 50%.
The former minister added that Tinubu needed to protect the Naira because doing otherwise would be equivalent to sending a soldier into battle in the absence of clothing.
The former minister pleaded with the president to rescue Nigerians’ lives and clear his name since they are no longer able to make sacrifices for the future as a result of he “doesn’t have a human face” economic policies.
According to Dalung, the nation is currently experiencing difficulty that needs to be addressed since it is causing people to suffer and die from hunger.
“The promise that Nigerians can sacrifice for the future is unattainable, and it makes him look like a wicked leader, he must redeem his name because people are dying of hunger and you are asking them to sacrifice. So if they sacrifice and all die, who will see the future?,” he asked
“He needs to save lives first, before he talks about economic policies. His economic policies should have a human face. Otherwise he will end up like Buhari,” he added.
