The National Association of Nigerian Students has urged the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, to solidarize with the union as it protests against the University of Lagos fee hike on Wednesday.
Making this call on Tuesday morning during an interview with PoliticsNow, Giwa Temitope, spokesperson of NANS disclosed that the union will not be joining the NLC protest slated to commence today.
When our reporter asked if the union will form alliance with NLC, Mr Temitope said: “Not at all, they should put the students in consideration by solidarizing with us.”
The union further disclosed that it will ground the main entrance of University of Lagos.
Recall that NANS had fixed September 6 to demonstrate against the recent move by the management of the University of Lagos to hike the institution’s tuition fee.
However, the Department of State Services alleged that some unscrupulous elements were planning to frustrate the progress made by the Bola Tinubu led government and security agencies with the protest.
