Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election has reprimanded his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi for his visit to senior lawyer, Afe Babalola over the case he instituted against human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi.
Farotimi has been facing legal troubles over allegations made in a book where he accused Babalola of allegedly corrupting the Nigerian judiciary.
Obi had earlier condemned the arrest of Farotimi via a statement on the ground that the case was civil in nature.
On Monday, Obi visited Afe Babalola in Ekiti before proceeding to the Ekiti prisons to visit Farotimi who has been granted bail but awaits the perfection of the bail.
For Sowore, the visit of Obi to Afe Babalola did a colossal damage to the struggle against judicial corruption.
He posted via his social media handle: “I condemn those who went to “beg” Chief Afe Babalola today over the unjust detention and persecution of @DeleFarotimi; the delegation led by @PeterObi did colossal injustice to the struggle to drain the swamp of judicial criminality in our country; Obi’s action is like forcing Rosa Parks to return to back of the bus of racial injustice during the civil rights era in the US! The struggle continues! #RevolutionNow #FreeDeleFarotimiNow.”
