Ezekwesili tackles Sanwo-Olu on mass burial of 103 #EndSARS protesters

Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has called out Lagos state governor, Babjide Sanwo-Olu, to react to reports that the government ordered for the mass burial of 103 protesters that died during the #EndSARS protest in October 2020.

Recall that the Lagos state government had in the aftermath of the October 2020 #EndSARS protest claimed that no life was lost during the protest after men of the Nigerian army opened fire on peaceful protesters at the Lekki tollgate.

However, in a leaked memo, Lagos state government ordered for mass burial of 103 individuals that died during the October 2020 #EndSARS protest.

Asking Mr Sanwo-Olu to respond to the leaked memo, Ms Ezekwesili in a tweet said: “Mr Governor of @followlasg , @jidesanwoolu , here is a document that has gone viral on social media, stating that your government procured services for mass burial of 103 corpses killed during the #EndSARS protest. Is this so? Mr Governor actually knew the State had a record of 103 dead bodies from the #EndSARS shootings? We need your urgent response.”

Nigerians on Sunday were outraged after a memo where governor Sanwo-Olu ordered the mass-burial of 103 individuals killed during the #EndSARS protest leaked. The memo detailed that the state government will be spending over sixty one million naira on the mass burial.
