Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has been flown to France aboard the presidential Air Ambulance after doctors both in Germany and UCH Ibadan were pessimistic of his recovery.
The Ondo Governor has been battling blood cancer, first at a hospital in Germany and UCH Ibadan.
After doctors failed to assure of his recovery, sources close to the Ondo State government told PoliticsNow that the American Hospital of Paris Neuilly-sur-Seine, was recommended for Akeredolu. The Paris hospital is also where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives treatment.
It was gathered that Tinubu approved the release of the Presidential Air Ambulance to fly Akeredolu to Paris after being told how gloomy the situation was. Akeredolu’s wife and son have joined him there, our reporter was told by sources close to the Ondo First Family.
Akeredolu, who was due to resume office on July 6, has now forwarded a letter seeking indefinite extension of his medical leave to the State House of Assembly.
The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji who received the letter on behalf of other members of the House said the Governor’s action is in line with section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ( as amended).
According to the letter, his Deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa would continue to act as Governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.
