Nigerian verified Twitter users have expressed happiness with the Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, Elon Musk, for his decision to pay users from the company’s advertising revenue.
With over 110k tweets, the #ElonMusk trending hashtag in Nigeria captures the excitement and anticipation surrounding the credit alerts that social media content creators are waking up to.
Through its ad revenue-sharing programme, X, formerly known as Twitter, has started paying out its first payments to content producers and social media influencers in Nigeria.
While the reimbursements for X users in the United States had begun early last month, X said that the gesture would be extended to all users by the end of July.
With this, verified users in Nigeria and other nations who have reached the minimum number of content impressions are now being compensated.
Many of the content producers who received the payment also used the microblogging platform to thank Elon Musk, the founder of the platform.
They claim that Musk has given them an incentive to stick on the platform and keep making interesting content.
Because of the reward, many people who had chosen not to pay for the blue badge but consistently posted content that received positive feedback will now be encouraged to do so. A monthly subscription costs N3,560.
