Ex-Ondo political appointees beg Akeredolu to pay their five months’ salary arrears

Former appointees in Ondo states have passionately appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to pay their five months’ salary arrears to cushion the effect of the removal of petrol subsidy in the country.

Under the forum of Former Political Appointees (FPA), they begged the governor to “temper justice with mercy” and order the payment of the remaining five months’ salary arrears.

“We are begging the governor to consider our five months’ salary arrears owed the former political appointees that served under Governor Olusegun Mimiko as part of the palliative measures to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy.

“Yes, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has really tried for us, about four years ago, he had been able to pay two months out of seven months owed us by Governor Mimiko’s administration.”

In a statement signed by the coordinator of the Forum, Hon. Femi Bosede, the former political appointees said they are going through untold hardship as they could not pay their children’s school fees, while some of them are bedridden.

The group sighted Dr Kayode Fayemi who paid all political office holders arrears owed during the Ayo Fayose administration in Ekiti state and the ones owned by the administration of Late Dr Olusegun Agagu that were paid during the administration of Dr Olusegun Mimiko among others as examples.

The coordinator noted that already, the state Governor Akeredolu had already paid two months out of the seven months owed them by the state government about four years ago.

The group, however, welcomed the governor back from his medical vacation and wished him well, saying the healing will be permanent in Jesus name, as his administration continues to transform Ondo state through people-oriented projects.
