Evan Ferguson has committed his future to Brighton by signing a contract extension that binds him to the club until 2029. The 19-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who initially joined Brighton from Bohemians in January 2021, has chosen to prolong his existing deal amidst reported interest from other Premier League clubs.
Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi expressed his confidence in Ferguson’s potential, stating, “Evan deserves this new contract, and he has a very promising future ahead of him.” Ferguson made his first-team debut for Brighton in a Carabao Cup match against Cardiff later in 2021, and since then, he has found the net 15 times, with his debut goal coming against Arsenal in December of the same year.
Brighton’s technical director, David Weir, hailed Ferguson as a brilliant young talent, emphasizing his accomplishments at both club and international levels. Having made his senior debut for Ireland in March, where he scored in a 3-2 victory over Latvia, Ferguson’s progress continues to be closely monitored and supported by Brighton.
