Wales is set to host Finland in the semi-finals of the European Championship play-offs, aiming to secure their fourth major tournament appearance in the last five editions. Rob Page’s team is scheduled to navigate the play-offs in March for a chance to participate in the tournament in Germany next summer. The semi-final clash is slated for March 21 in Cardiff, following the draw announcement in Nyon, Switzerland.
In Path B, Israel is set to face Iceland in the semi-finals, as revealed in Thursday’s draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. Additionally, Bosnia and Herzegovina will play host to Ukraine in another semi-final matchup.
Meanwhile, in Path C, Georgia is poised to take on potential tournament debutants Luxembourg, while Kazakhstan is set to travel to face 2004 European champions Greece in the other semi-final of that route.
Expressing optimism, Coach Rob Page sees a “great opportunity” for Wales to qualify for Euro 2024, especially with the advantage of two potential home ties in the qualification play-offs. Page is relieved to avoid a rematch with Ukraine, a team Wales defeated in a play-off to secure a spot in last year’s World Cup, emphasizing that Wales fears no opponent when playing in Cardiff.
