A former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has demanded that security agencies probe the allegation made by the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah alleging that the son of the president, Seyi Tinubu, ordered his torture and stripped him naked.
The NANS president had in a speech during his inauguration, claimed that he was offered N100 million by a go-to person of Seyi, which he claimed to have rejected. He said the rejection of the alleged bribe which was intended to procure his support for the president in 2027, angered Seyi who ordered for his torture.
Reacting to the video, El-Rufai, now a major opponent of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, demanded probe of the president’s son. He also called on international human rights organisations like Amnesty International, and media outlets including BBC and CNN to escalate the matter.
He posted via his X handle, “What is going on here? Is there a denial by the named culprit or any response from law enforcement agencies or inquiries by the human rights organizations? We must ask questions, and demand answers and action!! #JusticeforNANSPresident @elrufai @AmnestyNigeria @hrw @NhrcNigeria @PoliceNG @cnni @BBCAfrica.”
The NANS president, Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, was also allegedly attacked by thugs he claimed were linked to Seyi Tinubu who violently disrupted the NANS inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja.
The attack also reportedly targeted political figures at the occasion including former Minister of Education and two-term Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and former Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada.
The NANS president claimed that the attackers, armed with cutlasses and guns, stormed the venue — The Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro — in a coordinated assault that left several attendees injured and many robbed of their phones and personal belongings.
“At the inauguration hall which I personally paid for at The Wells Carlton Hotel, Asokoro, Seyi Tinubu arrived with a large number of security men and ordered them to stop the event,” Atiku said.
“The management of the hotel informed me about the interference, but I decided to go ahead with the inauguration. Immediately after we were inaugurated and Senator Shekarau began his speech, Seyi’s thugs entered the hall wielding guns and cutlasses. They stopped the senator, began stabbing people, and chased others away, snatching phones and valuables in the process.”
