Founded in the understanding that politics as the vehicle for enthroning leadership in Nigeria

El-Rufai, Al-Mustapha, Sowunmi, Gabam parley ahead 2027

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, met opposition political figures ahead the 2027 election.

The former Kaduna Governor a few days ago denied report that he was planning to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He even threatened legal action against the lead publisher of the report.

But a recent post by Segun Sowunmi, a member of the PDP and former spokesman to Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign in the 2019 election confirmed El-Rufai’s involvement in a broader political conversation ahead of the 2027 election, which will be held about two years from now.

El:Rufai, who was President Bola Tinubu’s major supporter in the last presidential election until he was picked and dumped as cabinet ministerial nominee, could become pivotal in rallying support against Tinubu in the Muslim North. He is however not so popular in the Christian North.

The post by Sowunmi reads: “You must set forth at Dawn! A Strategic Meeting Called by HE Shehu Gabam Chairman of SDP with HE @elrufai El-Rufai, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, Otunba Segun Showunmi The Alternative to meet and greet and review the state of opposition democratic engagement in Nigeria.”
