The Department of State Services (DSS) has released President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero on administrative bail.
Ajaero was released barely an hour to the midnight deadline which the labour union gave the government to release their president.
Ajaero’s detention had sparked widespread concern and intense speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest and detention.
He was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while en route out of the country on an official assignment.
Meanwhile, the NLC accused the DSS of arresting Ajaero without a warrant.
Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore, tweeted about Ajaero’s release.
He said, “The fascist regime of @officialABAT has released the @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero from @OfficialDSSNG custody on bail. The @NLCHeadquarters must declare for #FearlessInOctober #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria #NoGoingBack.”
It was gathered that Barrister Marshal Abubakar, one of the lawyers from the Femi Falana Chambers facilitated the NLC president’s bail, according to Sahara Reporters.
