Borussia Dortmund halted their recent streak of poor performances in the Bundesliga with a remarkable 4-2 comeback triumph over rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday. This victory propels Dortmund back into the top four of the Bundesliga table, seizing the opportunity as RB Leipzig dropped points away at Wolfsburg.
Dortmund faced an early setback when Gladbach’s Rocco Reitz opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by a second goal from Manu Koné in the 28th minute. It seemed Dortmund was headed for a third consecutive league defeat. However, a stunning turnaround before halftime saw goals from Marcel Sabitzer, Niclas Füllkrug, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, completely altering the course of the match.
The second half unfolded as a more cautious affair, with limited chances due to wet conditions. Both teams introduced multiple substitutions to inject fresh legs, resulting in a slower tempo in the closing stages. Deep into stoppage time, Dortmund sealed the three points with a goal from Donyell Malen, securing their seventh Bundesliga win in 12 games this season.
This result solidifies Dortmund’s position in the top four of the table, while Gladbach continues to hover in mid-table. Dortmund manager Edin Terzic will be pleased with his team’s resilience in overcoming a two-goal deficit early in the match.
