Former U.S. President, Donald Trump, has made a post for the first time on X, formerly Twitter, two and half years after he was suspended on the microblogging App, and later reinstated by new owner, Elon Musk.
His first post on the microblogging App, was a mugshot of his fourth indictment in the state of Georgia.
He was accused of withholding government documents, preventing federal officials from retrieving those documents and election interference.
Two of those indictments are on state charges in New York and Georgia, and two indictments are on federal charges. These indictments amount to a total of 91 felony counts.
Some analysts have said it is the weaponization of the U.S. justice department against a major political opponent.
Major polls have shown Trump is standing shoulder to shoulder with the U.S. President Joe Biden, his Democratic challenger in the 2024 election. Trump is favoured to clinch the Republican Party nomination.
On X, Donald Trump posted a mugshot of his appearance in a prison where he was processed before leaving the jailhouse. The mugshot was accompanied by a link to his campaign funding website.
Trump posted a statement on the website which reads. “Today, at the notoriously violent jail in Fulton County, Georgia, I was ARRESTED despite having committed NO CRIME. The American people know what’s going on.
“What has taken place is a travesty of justice and ELECTION INTERFERENCE.
“The Left wants to intimidate YOU out of voting for a political outsider who puts the American people FIRST.
“But today, I walked into the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA.
“If you are doing poorly due to the sinister people in control of our country right now, don’t even think about donating!
“But if you can, please make a contribution to evict Crooked Joe Biden from the White House and SAVE AMERICA during this dark chapter in our nation’s history.
“Thank you and God bless you,”
