The appeal brought by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, has been dismissed by the appellate court, citing a lack of merit.
This follows the affirmation by the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba on September 29, declaring Sheriff Oborevwori as the winner of the March 18 governorship election.
Despite the tribunal’s decision, Omo-Agege proceeded to challenge it by filing an appeal at the appellate court, where he sought to be declared the election winner. Oborevwori countered this appeal, arguing that it lacked merit and should be dismissed.
In a judgment issued on Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld Oborevwori’s victory and rejected Omo-Agege’s appeal on the grounds of lacking merit. The appellate court also upheld the decision of the lower tribunal.
In a separate judgment, the tribunal dismissed the appeal filed by Kenneth Gbaji of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), APC, Labour Party (LP), and their respective gubernatorial candidates.
