Daddy Freeze says he won’t pay N5m adultery fine upheld by Appeal Court

Media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde popularly known as Daddy Freeze has maintained his innocence after a Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, upheld the fine imposed on him for “committing adultery”.

Reacting after the report was published, the media personality denied ever committing adultery with his wife, Benedicta Elechi, when she was married to her ex husband.

“I am innocent. I did not do it,” he wrote on Instagram.

In another post he wrote: “Stop spreading misinformation. You can do better.”

Then, taking a swipe at his wife’s ex-husband, Daddy Freeze shared loved up clips of him and Benedicta and wrote: “#PepperDem @tastebudzng love always wins… Abeg make dem ask dat kukute owootori toromogbe wey dey cry up and down for social media for the last 12 years, to tell the world why his ex wife left him.”

Despite the court ruling ordering him to pay a fine of N5m, Daddy Freeze maintained his innocence and insisted that the allegations are false.

Speaking on his Instagram live, Daddy Freeze stated: “I’ve never slept with any man’s wife before. I’m not guilty of any adultery.”

He said he would rather send the money to those in need, but will never pay the fine.

Freeze said: “I’ll not pay the 5 million naira adultery fine  but I can send them N5m to feed”

He further emphasised his innocence, stating that the issue happened 12 years ago.

“My watches alone cost over 100 million naira, but I am innocent, and I will not lose. This happened many years ago; this happened over 12 years ago,” he stated partly.

In 2018, Benedicta Elechi, who is now married to Daddy Freeze and shares a son with him, denied committing adultery with Freeze while still with her ex-husband Paul Odekina, as per Linda Ikeja blog report quoting an old imterview.

She said she filed for a divorce from her ex because of his “sexual perversion.”

She also claimed that during their union (they got married in 2002 and she filed for divorce in 2012) they only made love just eleven times in 10 years, until she caught her husband “red-handed in gay sex with a man in their living room.”

Then, in 2021, Benedicta alleged that she was battered by her ex-husband and shared a medical report dated April 17, 2014, as proof.

The High Court of Rivers State sitting in Port Harcourt, had earlier on February 18, 2021, ordered Daddy Freeze to pay N5m for committing adultery with one Benedicta Elechi.

Benedicta shared the medical report after a High Court of Rivers State sitting in Port Harcourt, on February 18, 2021, ordered Daddy Freeze to pay N5m for committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi.

He was ordered to pay the money to Paul Odekina, who was married to Elechi at the time the alleged adulterous act was committed.

“The sum of N5,000,000 is awarded against Ifedayo Olarinde (the 2nd Cross Respondent to the Cross Petition) as damages for depriving the Cross Petitioner of the amiable consort of his wife (Petitioner/1st Cross Respondent) and for injury suffered as a result of his adultery with the Petitioner/Cross Respondent,” the court held.

The court also dissolved the marriage contracted between Paul and Benedicta due to her adulterous act with Daddy Freeze.

But, not satisfied with the High Court’s judgement, Daddy Freeze approached the appellate court for redress.

The Appeal Court has now upheld the N5m fine.
