Former Presidential spokesman, Reno Omokri, has restated his support for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at the 2023 presidential election.
Omokri who spoke on the heels of allegations that he had turned from supporting Atiku to defending Tinubu said that he was still a faithful supporter of Atiku’s ambition.
The former presidential spokesman who argued that Atiku Abubakar would have been a better president cleared that he went to verify the authenticity of Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) Certificate from the institution.
“I cannot vouch for Bola Tinubu in other areas. And I will continue to assert truthfully that Waziri Atiku Abubakar would have been a better President. But I physically went to Chicago State University. Others now talking, did not go. If the current President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists is willing to act as a referee and provide me with an account number, I am willing to put down $10,000 against any journalist saying that Tinubu, a male and the current President of Nigeria, did not attend and graduate Chicago State University,” Omokri wrote.
“Nigerians need to understand mature politics. That I am unwilling to lie against Tinubu does not mean I have abandoned Atiku and now support Tinubu. I support Atiku today, tomorrow, and for the foreseeable future. However, I support the truth FOREVER!” he added.
Despite being a supporter of the main opposition party, Omokri attracted attention when he decided to defend President Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials. Many had speculated that Omokri’s action was part of his attempt to secure a political job in the president Tinubu-led administration.
