After a portrait of the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II resurfaces in the Coronation Hall of Kano State government house, speculations became rife that he might be reinstated.
Recall that the former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, balkanized the Kano Emirate into four after sacking Emir Sanusi.
The emergence of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf led to speculation that the government may sack the Emirs installed by Ganduje and return the dethroned Emir, Sanusi II as the sole Emir of Kano.
But an official of the Kano government claimed the picture of Emir Sanusi in the Coronation Hall was a mere historical symbolism.
He said: “CLARIFICATION: Emir Sanusi Picture and that of Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso were installed back at the Coronation hall as part of history. This is because the Coronation hall was built during the time of Sen. Kwankwaso and Emir Sanusi was the first Emir to be coronated there.”
