Child custody saga: Court restrains DO2tun from defaming Dbanj

A Chief District Court in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, presided over by His Honour, Emmanuel Iyanna, has issued an injunction against popular on-air personality, Mr. Kayode Oladotun, known as Do2tun.

The court order restrains Do2dtun from publishing any defamatory content about singer Oladapo Oyebanjo, also recognized as D’banj, on social media or any other platform.

D’banj, represented by his lawyer Toheeb Lawal, had filed a formal request with the court, seeking an injunction to prevent Do2tun from disseminating malicious and defamatory statements against him on social media.

In response to D’banj’s application, Judge Iyanna issued a decree, with D’banj as the complainant and Do2dtun as the respondent, which imposes “an order restraining the defendant (Do2tun), whether by himself, his associates, accomplices, agents, representatives, or any persons acting under his authority, from making further malicious, intimidating, or defamatory posts targeting the complainant (D’banj) on any social media platform or news media. This order is to remain in effect until the substantive case is heard and resolved.”

Furthermore, the court has directed the Deputy Inspector of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, to conduct an investigation into a criminal complaint lodged by D’banj against Do2tun within a two-week timeframe, with a subsequent report to be submitted to the court.

Do2dtun had been engaged in an extended social media campaign against D’banj for several weeks. It’s noteworthy that Do2tun was formerly married to D’banj’s sister, Taiwo, in 2013, and they share two children.

However, in November 2021, Taiwo initiated divorce proceedings before Justice A.I Akobi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court. In her application, she alleged “persistent and harmful emotional abuse, coerced abortions, and severe domestic violence” by Do2tun, asserting that these actions had negatively affected her health and overall well-being.

Do2tun had also made allegations regarding his inability to see his children, but Taiwo contested this, asserting that his claims were unfounded. According to her, contrary to her ex-husband’s assertions about custody, the entertainer does have access to their children.
