Chicago State University locks X account after multiple queries, attacks over Tinubu’s certificate

After receiving multiple queries and attacks over the degree it said to have issued President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 1979, Chicago State University on Monday put its X handle, formerly known as Twitter, under lock and key to ward off further bashing.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the February 25 election, is challenging the validity of Tinubu’s degree from the Chicago State University.

His Attorney in the U.S., Angela Liu, claimed in court filing at the District Court in Illinois that there are several remarkable contradictions in the two certificates of Tinubu which makes his claim of graduating from Chicago State University doubtful.

Recall that Tinubu submitted a copy of his Chicago State University degree certificate to INEC. But Atiku argues that it has several features different from certificates issued by the same institution.

Among the said contradictions are the number of signatories, logos, font size and dates of issue of the certificates.

Since the court filings in the U.S, the barrage of criticisms against the university have made Chicago State University a top trend on Nigerian X.

After enduring a number of the attacks, the Chicago State University decided to lock its X handle, which makes users unable to send a message or reply its post.
