Dr. Olayemi Cardoso’s appointment as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, or CBN, has been approved by the Senate.
Cardoso was screened alongside four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors, to steer affairs of the apex bank in the next five years.
Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello were also confirmed as the deputy governors.
Recall that Cardoso resumed his duties as CBN governor last week in an acting capacity while he awaited the Senate’s review and anticipated approval.
The Senate has set Tuesday, October 3, 2023 as the day for it to consider two more president Bola Tinubu nominations for cabinet positions.
The President appointed Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande to the positions of Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths, respectively.
