Burnley strengthen attack with Chelsea forward Armando Broja

Armando Broja has completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Burnley, signing a five-year contract with the newly-promoted English Premier League club. The fee remains undisclosed, though British media reports suggest Burnley will pay an initial £10 million with potential add-ons worth a further £5 million. The 23-year-old striker departs Stamford Bridge after 16 years with the Blues, having joined their Academy from Tottenham Hotspur at the age of eight in 2009.
Broja progressed through Chelsea’s youth ranks before making his first-team debut, accumulating 38 appearances and scoring nine goals for the west London club. The English-born forward, who represents Albania at international level, found first-team opportunities limited at Chelsea, leading to several loan spells throughout his career. His development included periods at Southampton, Fulham, and most recently Everton during the 2024/2025 season.
Everton opted against making Broja’s loan move permanent, clearing the way for his departure from Chelsea. The Blues’ significant investment in forwards Liam Delap and Joao Pedro during the summer transfer window further reduced prospects for the young striker. Burnley, returning to the EPL for after promotion, identified Broja as an ideal addition to their attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
Upon joining Burnley, Broja shared his enthusiasm for the new challenge: “I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player. It’s a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can’t wait to get going. I’m feeling good, I’m ready and I’m excited about the challenge of playing for this club. I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous claret shirt.”
Burnley have been active in the transfer market since securing promotion, with Broja joining Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu as new arrivals at Turf Moor. The Clarets are strengthening their squad ahead of their return to England’s top flight, aiming to establish themselves in the EPL following their absence. The addition of Broja provides the outfit with another attacking option as they prepare for the demanding season ahead.
