Femi Adesina, a former special adviser on media to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has disclosed that his boss had regrets.
At a programme titled Media Dialogue with Femi Adesina, hosted by the Association of Veteran Journalists in Osun State, Adesina made this statement yesterday in Osogbo.
Before Buhari left office, according to the former spokesperson, they spoke for two hours during which Adesina asked a variety of questions.
He claimed that when he asked his principal about his regrets during the interview, Buhari expressed disappointment that some things could have been handled more effectively.
“There is no living being that will not have regrets at some point,” according to Adesina, who did not mention Buhari’s specific regrets.
“I asked the President a few questions, including this one.
“Before we left the office, I sat with him for about two hours and asked him every question under the sun. And when we finished, he asked what I gave to the Chief of Protocol that he gave me so long a time with him. There was no question I didn’t ask. There were things he (Buhari) felt could have been done better.”
Adesina defended some of the administration’s actions, arguing that even though the naira redesign policy put Nigerians through hardship, it had positive effects on crime, particularly kidnapping, and election rigging in 2023.
He praised Buhari for the diligent service he provided to the nation, noting some shortcomings in the administration could not be entirely attributed to him.
