Human rights activist Dele Farotimi has left a cryptic note on his X handle a day after senior lawyer, Afe Babalola dropped a defamation charge against him.
Babalola who is founder of Afe Babalola University, withdrew criminal charges against Farotimi which caused the activist to spend 21 days in prison custody.
According to media report, Babalola’s decision to drop the charges followed a mediation led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and other traditional rulers.
Referencing a post he made six years ago about the righteous prevailing at the end, Farotimi said: “Nigeria!!! Bring me my prophet offerings.”
A prophet’s offering is Christian practice of honouring a prophet (one who speaks on future events).
The post made by Farotimi six years ago read: “There’s a shaking afoot, and a separation of the wheat from the chaff. Men shall be tested and assayed, but surely I declare unto the conscious: discountenance the gathering clouds, the righteous shall prevail, accompanied by justice shall reign.”
Farotimi’s trouble started after alleging in his book ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’ that Babalola corrupted the judiciary.
