Portable appears in Ogun court over attack on officials

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned at the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday.

This follows his surrender to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba on Wednesday, after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.

The charges stemmed from an incident on February 5, 2025, when Portable allegedly led an attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement exercise at his bar in the Sango Ota area.

The officials sustained injuries, and while nine of Portable’s associates were arrested, the singer evaded capture until his recent surrender.

Portable, born on March 12, 1994, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, gained prominence with his 2021 hit single “ZaZoo Zehh,” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.

His career has been marked by multiple controversies, including public disputes with fellow artists and allegations of violent behaviour.

The Ogun State Government has condemned Portable’s actions, describing him as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”

They emphasized their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that such behaviour is addressed appropriately
