Twelve years after an aircraft belonging to Dana Air crashed in Lagos killing all passengers onboard, another aircraft belonging to the airline has skidded off the runway in Lagos State.
Details about the recent incident are still unclear as of the time of filing this report. However, a source quoted by Channels Television said no casualties were recorded.
The latest incident has raised concern about aviation safety in Nigeria.
Nigeria has witnessed a staggering 78 accidents and four serious incidents between 2005 – 2023, the Director General, DG, Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, Engr. Akin Olateru, was quoted in September 2023 to have said.
He said the aviation safety record of Nigeria is the best in Africa, with the country recording only two fatal accidents in the last ten years.
