Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former senate deputy President Ike Ekweremadu has been released from prison in the United Kingdom and is now back in Nigeria.
She and her husband, former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, were jailed last year over an attempt to harvest the organ of a young Nigerian boy to fix the health of their daughter Sophia. The boy was lured away from his hawking business in Lagos.
According to a Daily Post report, Beatrice returned to Nigeria on Tuesday
Beatrice, Ike, and one Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor, were sentenced to prison by a UK court for their involvement in organ harvesting – with the husband bagging 10 years and Beatrice six years, despite pleading poor health in court.
Her return is reportedly being celebrated across Enugu State, with many praying to have the husband back in the shortest possible time.
