Highly-touted 20-year-old Brazilian center-back, Lucas Beraldo, has completed a notable move from Sao Paulo to the esteemed Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). After an impressive 2023 season, where Beraldo caught the attention of renowned European clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich, PSG swiftly secured the young defender’s services.
Beraldo committed to a five-year contract with PSG, following the clubs’ agreement on a reported £25 million transfer fee. Expressing his excitement about the move, Beraldo stated, “I am very happy to join a club as ambitious as Paris Saint-Germain. This is an important step in my career, which will help me progress. I can’t wait to get to know my new teammates and take my first steps in this jersey.”
Regarded as one of South America’s most promising young talents, Beraldo will add competition to PSG’s central defense, challenging players like Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos. PSG initially aimed to secure another promising talent, 18-year-old midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, from Corinthians, fending off interest from European powerhouses Chelsea and Barcelona.
However, a late setback occurred in finalizing Moscardo’s transfer. Concerns emerged during his medical examination with PSG, revealing a foot problem. Subsequently, Moscardo confirmed the need for preventive surgery, sidelining him for approximately three months.
Despite the setback, PSG maintains a keen interest in completing Moscardo’s signing once he has recovered. However, the deal might face a delay until the summer transfer window.
