All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying that the initial pains associated with the recent removal of fuel subsidy will only last for a while.
The former governor of Kano State made the appeal when the Forum of Former Directors and Chairmen of APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Tuesday in Abuja.
In accordance with his campaign promises, Tinubu removed fuel subsidy, according to Ganduje, who noted that the president did not act improperly as some social media users have claimed.
President Tinubu’s decision to end the contentious fuel subsidy on day one of his administration, according to Ganduje, is evidence of his sincerity and openness with the populace.
Despite the current suffering and financial difficulty brought on by the elimination of fuel subsidy, he also advised Nigerians to have patience with the government, saying that a new era is soon to dawn in the nation.
According to him, the situation in the nation is not unusual because other nations that are now perceived to be prospering once had conditions that were even worse than what Nigerians are currently experiencing.
“We know that there are initial pains associated with the removal of the subsidy but we know it is going to be for a while. What is important is the long time measures that will benefit Nigerians.
“He has done what previous administrations could not do by removing the fuel subsidy. He campaigned with the removal and he has done it, meaning that he is honest.”
