Bandits kill 2 in attack on Kaduna Mosque
In an unfortunate incident, bandits launched an attack on a mosque in Sabon Layi, Kakangi Ward, located within the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the tragic deaths of the mosque’s Imam and another worshipper on Tuesday.
The assailants also left several other worshippers wounded during their assault on the Ga Allah Babba region of the Sabon Layi community.
As of the time of this report, the Kaduna Police Command had not yet issued an official response to the incident.
However, according to an inside source, the mosque’s Imam, Malam Mamuda, and a worshipper named Kabiru lost their lives due to the attackers’ gunfire, while two other individuals, Bilya Mairabo and Ashiru Mairabo, sustained injuries.
Chairman of the Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim Abubakar Maigwari, expressed deep concern in a statement, highlighting that the entire Birnin-Gwari local government area continues to face almost daily threats from terrorists, who are responsible for the senseless killing and abduction of innocent citizens. He specifically emphasized that the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway has become a perilous route for travelers, creating a nightmare scenario for those using it.
